Hey guys, I’m here again with another
exciting Photoshop tutorial for you. In this tutorial we will create a
beautiful vintage label in Photoshop. So let’s note down the things we
will need for this vintage label.
Details:-Program: Photoshop CS5
Approximate time: 30 – 40 Minutes
Resources: wheat brushes/vectors and our very own Photoshop.
Before we go ahead with the tutorial, let’s have a look at the final result.
To see the image in full size click on the demo button:
Step1:Start your Photoshop and open up a new document of 800x800px.
Step2:
I’m using the same concrete background we used for the realistic metallic logo. To see how it is made just click on the link. After importing the background select ellipse tool and make a circle with color # 1b1b1b.
Step3:
Right click on the circle layer and go to blending options. We are going to give our circle a bit of drop shadow to make it look solid. You can see the settings for drop shadow in the image given below.
Step4:
I’ve used a dash-circle brush for the stitches which I made myself. You can easily get the stitched effect by making a smaller circle of red color # ae0a0c, then use a hard round eraser just 1 pixel short than the red one and remove the inner of red circle. Now you will have a red ring, again select the eraser of 2px and remove the bits of the rings to give it a dash or stitched look, Simple enough .
Step5:
Now to make the stitches prominent we are going to give first a drop shadow, see the settings in the image given below for drop shadow.
Step6:
Now check on the Bevel and Emboss->Contour. See the picture given below for settings.
Step7:
Also check on texture and see the settings for it below.
Step8:
Now you will have something like the image shown below.
Step9:
Select ellipse tool again and make another circle a bit shorter this time and place it in the middle as shown below with red color# c3090a.
Step10:
Right click on the red circle layer->blending options->Inner shadow. See the settings for inner shadow below in the given image.
Step11:
Fill the red circle with another circle shorter than the red and with black color# 000000.
Step12:
Now select wheat ears vector you want to use and place it in the middle. You will soon find the wheat ears as Photoshop brushes in our freebie section.
Step13:
Now we are going to give diff effects to solidify our wheat ears. Right click on the wheat layer and then go to blending options and check the gradient overlay box to give our wheat its golden color gradient. See the settings and color combination for the gradient below in the given image.
Step14:
Now the 2nd effect to our wheat ears is of drop shadow. You can follow the settings shown below in the picture.
Step15:
Our 3rd effect will be of Bevel and Emboss. Also check the contour box. See the picture shown below for the bevel and emboss settings.
Step16:
It’s time to add our4th effect which is satin. See the picture shown below for settings.
Step17:
Now you will have a golden wooden effect on the wheat ears as shown below.
Step18:
Now we are going to make a ribbon across our circular label. Select a hard round brush of 2px of color black #000000 before selecting pen tool then select pen tool and make a narrow rectangle, after that add anchor points and make the horizontal lines of the rectangle curvy as shown below.
Step19:
Now right click on the shape and select Stroke path.
Step20:
Select brush for stroke path.
Step21:
Now again right click on the pen tool shape and select Delete Path.
Step22:
Fill the shape with red color# e60607.
Step23:
Now to make the end of the ribbon make the shape shown below with pen tool and repeat the process we used for the main shape on both sides.
Step24:
Give our ribbon a drop shadow. See the image given below for the settings of drop shadow.
Step25:
Now select pattern overlay to give a bit of woven texture to the ribbon. See the settings shown below and follow.
Step26:
Now make another curved rectangle on the ribbon as text box. Right click on its layer go to blending options and give a gradient overlay. See the image shown below for settings.
Step27:
Now check on the satin effect to give it a bit of depth. Follow the settings shown below.
Step28:
It’s time to add the text to our label. Select type tool and then select Algerian font-regular-30pt-strong. Now type VINTAGE COLLECTION with color # c18546. I’ve also used a crown shape which you can easily find in the Photoshop shapes. And below the crown I’ve typed Opened since 1876 with the same font and color but with size 28pt.
Step29:
Right click on the text layer->Blending Options->Bevel and Emboss. Follow the settings shown below.
Step30:
Now again select type tool and add the text to our ribbon text box with “Edwardian Script ITC” of 30pt size and in black color # 000000.
Step31:
Add bevel and emboss effect. See the settings below for the bevel and emboss effect.
Step32:
Give the text a stroke. See the settings for stroke below.
Now our Vintage Label is complete. Have a look.
