Adding Text Behind a Scene in Photoshop

In this Photoshop tutorial, you are going to learn how to add your text behind a scene in Photoshop. You can now add your text behind any particular object in your image and still make it look like it belongs there. You’ll be doing this by the clever use of the layer mask option. Below is a picture of motorbike. You’ll be bringing your text behind this particular motorbike and not the whole image. There is a difference.

1. Open whatever image you would like to work on in Photoshop. This is the image we will be using for this tutorial:

2.  Now using Photoshop’s Text Tool, create your text using the color White. The font I have used in this tutorial is ‘Bank Gothic.’
You can download the font from here

3. Set the Foreground and Background colors to Black and White, respectively.
4. Select the Brush Tool and modify its settings as shown in the image below:

5. Change the Opacity of your text to 30%
This allows you to work more precisely. Read on.

6.  Zoom into the image and onto the area that you want to work on. (CTRL + +).
7. Now click on the Add Layer Mask icon. You are now going to use the brush tool to hide the text that lies on top of the motorbike. This will make the text look as though it has been inserted behind the motorbike. By switching foreground colors between black and white you can always readjust the text in whatever way you want it.

8. Change the text layer’s Blend Mode from Normal to Overlay. Change its Opacity back to 80%.

That’s it, babe.
Final Picture:

Voila.
